Sundarbans is the largest single block of tidal halophytic mangrove forest in the world and recognized world heritage site by UNESCO


 It lies in the vast delta on the Bay of Bengal. it covers 10000 sq/km of which about 6000 sq/km is in Bangladesh. its forest area is 3997 kmsqure  , sandbars, grass bare ground is 115 kmsqure, rivers 1905kmsqure, total srf ( of which 1397 kmsqure represented by 3 wildlife sanctuaries.

 ---     the forest floor is 0.91 m above mean sea level the soil is silty clay, silt, and sand.
rivers in the Sundarbans are meeting places of saltwater and freshwater
----it is intersected by a complex network of tidal waterways, mudflats and small islands of salt-tolerant mangrove forest.
---- it is divided into three distinct ecological zones namely oligohaline zone , mesohaline zone , polyhalite zone.

----classified as tropical moist forest, the average annual  maximum and minimum temperature vary between 30 to 21-degree Celcius,
 ---high temperature occurs from mid-merch to mid June and low in dec to January.

----the mean maximum temperature for the hottest month has been recorded as 32.4 deegree celsius at potuakhali in the east of the sundarban,

----- the mean annual relative humidity varries from 70 deegree at satkhira to 80 degrees at at potuakhali. humidity is highest in June to octobar and lowes in february.


-----the annual rainfall is in the range of 1640 to 2000 mm , rainfall increases from west to east , most rainfall occurs during the moonsoon
